The existing platform suffered from severe performance bottlenecks that were directly impacting the client's credibility and operational costs. Database load times were sluggish — critical configuration errors had accumulated and gone unresolved, causing cascading slowdowns across the entire site. On top of this, recurring server hosting costs on the legacy platform were unjustifiably high for the level of performance being delivered.
The site was a WordPress multisite installation, adding further complexity to any potential migration. Touching the wrong thing in the wrong order could bring everything down and cost the client their online presence mid-operation.
I executed a complete infrastructure overhaul, approaching the problem in layers. First, I audited and cleared critical database configuration errors that had been silently degrading performance — these included misconfigured table prefixes, orphaned plugin data, and bloated revision records that had never been purged.
Next, I conducted a full audit of plugin dependencies, identifying and removing redundant or conflicting plugins that were consuming server resources without delivering value. The remaining stack was optimised for lean, efficient operation.
Finally, I planned and executed the migration of the entire multisite system to a streamlined Hostinger environment — a significantly more cost-effective and performant hosting solution. The migration was sequenced carefully to ensure zero operational downtime: staging environment first, DNS propagation managed precisely, and a clean cutover with rollback capability at every stage.
